How bandsaw blade length calculators work

Plain-language guide to πD+2C for equal-wheel bandsaws, mid-tension measuring, stock 60 / 72 / 109.45 / 150 in matching, and when the answer is NO_MATCH.

What this tool answers

You need a first-pass replacement blade length for a two-wheel woodworking bandsaw. The calculator estimates loop length from equal-wheel diameter and center distance, then names a stock VEVOR US length within one inch — or returns NO_MATCH.

The πD + 2C formula

With equal wheels, each wheel contributes half a circumference, so together they contribute one full πD, and the two straight spans contribute 2C. Unequal wheels need a more complete open-belt formula; this site’s screen assumes equal wheels.

Measure at mid-tension

Set the upper-wheel tensioner near the middle of its travel before measuring C. Measuring fully raised or fully lowered can push the calculated length outside the saw’s usable adjustment.

When the answer is NO_MATCH

If calculated length is more than one inch from every stock class, do not force a distant blade. Re-measure, order a custom-welded length, or consult the saw manufacturer’s specified blade length.
